L&A Awarded NNSA Support Contract

November 15, 2012

Longenecker & Associates, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), NNSA has awarded the firm a 5 year contract for technical support services. NNSA made multiple awards in response to a competitive solicitation, with a total ceiling of $300M over five years. [read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]

Under this contract, L&A is the prime contractor, with Accenture, IBM, PwC, Fluor, TPMC, North Wind and StrataG as subcontractors.

Clay H. Ramsey Joins L&A, Inc. As Senior Associate

Mr. Ramsey has more than 30-years of experience in management of large and complex projects for the Department of Energy. During his career, Mr. Ramsey has conducted numerous independent reviews of and lessons learned exchanges for a wide variety of DOE and NNSA nuclear, science, waste management and infrastructure projects.

Before retiring from DOE in 2012, Mr. Ramsey served as the Federal Project Director for the NNSA’s MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility project during final design, procurement and construction. Mr. Ramsey also served as Program Manager and Federal Project Director (Level 4) for DOE’s first-of-a-kind Tritium Extraction Facility project during construction, startup testing and initial facility operation, and as Federal Project Director for the DOE Tritium Facility Modernization and Consolidation Project during construction and startup testing.

Mr. Ramsey holds a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Project Management Professional Certification from PMI.

Jeffrey S. Trent Joins L&A, Inc. As Senior Associate

Mr. Trent has extensive experience in engineering, project and organizational management, and leadership experience in the Department of Navy Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport, Washington. and the Department of Energy in Richland, WA

In more than 20 years of US Navy experience, Mr. Trent managed a department of 400 engineering and technical professionals and an additional 400 contractor personnel responsible for development, deployment, and fleet support of weapons and combat systems used on Navy submarines, surface ships, aircraft carriers, and shore sites.

At DOE. Mr. Trent served as the Federal Project Director for the High Level Waste (HLW) Facility, a $3B sub-project of the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant capital line-item project. He also served as the Waste Treatment Plant project liaison for the Office of Environmental Management for one-year starting in April 2011, where he provided technical and program management expertise directly to DOE senior management. Mr. Trent retired from the Department of Energy in July 2012.

Mr. Trent has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University and a Master of Public Administration from Indiana University. He is a registered Project Management Professional. Mr. Trent was previously certified as a Federal Project Director for DOE and the Federal Acquisition Institute, as a Level III Contracting Officer’s Representative, and a Defense Acquisition Level III in System Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering.

Bruce H. Rogers Joins L&A, Inc. As Sr. Security Project Manager

Mr. Rogers has more than 40 year’s experience in managing government security operations, and is the founder of World Security Group, LLC. Mr. Rogers also has served as Senior Vice President and DOE Program Manager for Protection Strategies Incorporated, and as Security Specialist at Fluor Daniel Hanford, and Westinghouse Hanford Company.

James J. Cavanagh Joins L&A, Inc. Board

Mr. Cavanagh is President of The Cavanagh Group. Mr. Cavanagh completed a very prestigious government career in early 2012, during which he served as NNSA’sAssociate Principal Deputy Administrator from 2006-2012, (and during that same time as the Acting Associate Administrator for Acquisition and Project Management in 2011) and in other senior management positions in DOE and NNSA.

In prior government assignments, Mr. Cavanagh held a number of operational, policy, oversight, audit, and supervisory management positions at the Department of Defense, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Energy.

L&A Awards Two Scholarships at WM 2012 Symposium

Longenecker & Associates, Inc. awarded scholarships to Phyllis Ko and Patricia Schuster on February 28, 2012 at the Waste Management 2012 Symposium in Phoenix, AZ. [read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]

Phyllis Ko is pursuing a PhD in Nuclear Engineering at Penn State University. Phyllis received her Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers, in 2011 received a DHS Nuclear Nonproliferation and International Safeguards Fellowship, and has been evaluating the use of lasers in nuclear forensics.

Patricia Schuster is a student at University of California, Berkeley and her PhD field of study involves exploring the non proliferation implications of various nuclear fuel cycles. Patricia in 2011 received a DOE Nuclear Nonproliferation and International Safeguards Fellowship.
