Ted Sherry Joins L&A, Inc.

Longenecker & Associates, Inc. announced today that Theodore D. (Ted) Sherry will join L&A in the position of Senior Manager, NNSA Programs, effective December 9, 2013. [read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]
As an integral part of the L&A Senior Management Team, Mr. Sherry will be primarily responsible for supporting NNSA program work and leading L&A NNSA Strategic Plans.
Previously, Mr. Sherry was an Executive with NNSA, retiring in December 2011 after 25 years of federal service. His service included a tour in the US Navy as a Nuclear Submarine Officer, various DOE technical and managerial positions in the DOE Albuquerque Operations Office, and then finally as the Deputy Manager and Manager of the NNSA Y-12 Site Office in Oak Ridge, TN. Most recently he has served as the Program Director for Homeland Protection and Advanced Concepts within Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Global Security Directorate.

Edward R. Simpson Joins L&A, Inc. As Sr. Associate

Mr. Simpson has more than thirty-eight years of experience in executive management, federal contracting, and property disposal related to managing and executing government and business functions. He has worked extensively with senior level executives in obtaining support and endorsement of Departmental and Government-wide acquisition initiatives, policies and contract strategies. Mr. Simpson has worked in all facets of contracting including performance based contracting approaches, contract negotiation, and the formation and management of research and development, services, complex supplies, and facilities management and operations contracts.
Since retiring from Federal service in 2010, Mr. Simpson has provided executive level advice, consultation, analysis, and recommendations related to contract and subcontract management and administration.

Frank Andracchi Joins L&A, Inc. As Sr. Associate

Mr. Andracchi has more than 40 years of business management experience in the private sector, primarily with electric utilities. Prior to joining L&A, Mr. Andracchi served in senior management positions in Exelon Power Corporation, serving until 2012 as Vice President of Industrial Services. In this position, he completed the merger of the Constellation / Exelon Power Generation business units.
In earlier assignments, Mr. Andracchi served as Managing Director of the Enterprise Performance Group of Constellation Power, Inc. in Baltimore MD. In this position, Mr., Andracchi focused on improved equipment reliability, improved business processes, improved personnel development/performance, and reduction of risk thru a reorganized environmental services group and highly successful project integration M&A group.
He ssuccessfully positioned Constellation Energy for substantial growth by leveraging the company’s best practices and common approaches across a complex and unique mix of generating/energy assets and investments, including the completion of the purchase/integration of Boston Generation ($1.1 B/2900 MW) into Constellation Power Generation (CPG) in a 10 month period.

Michael J. Mason Joins L&A, Inc. As Sr. Project Manager

Mr. Mason has more than 35 years of management and Quality Assurance (QA) experience in the development and implementation of QA programs associated with design, procurement, construction, start up and operations of both commercial nuclear facilities and DOE managed facilities. He is a Member of the ASME NQA-1, Program Management Processes Sub-Committee and the NQA-1, Main Committee.
Prior to joining L&A, Mr. Mason served in senior management positions in Bechtel Power Corporation, serving until early 2013 as Nuclear Quality Assurance Manager.

James Turi Named Vice President of Longenecker & Associates, Inc.

Longenecker & Associates, Inc. announced today that James Turi was named Vice President for Science and Technology programs effective April 22, 2013. In this role, Mr. Turi will focus on solving problems for clients in a range of science and technology projects and programs. Dr. Milton Johnson who now holds that position will become Vice President Emeritus. [read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]
Prior to joining L&A in May 2010, Mr. Turi served as Manager of the Department of Energy’s Site Office at the Jefferson Lab. Mr. Turi began his federal career in 1968 with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. His program experience spans nuclear and magnetic fusion energy to environmental management to the deployment of radioisotope thermoelectric generators for the NASA Galileo and Ulysses missions.
Jim joined the Office of Science in 2000 as Associate Director for Laboratory Operations and Environment, Safety and Health in Science’s Germantown, Maryland office. He also served as Office of Science’s acting Deputy Director for Operations and acting Chief of Staff. Before joining the Office of Science, Mr. Turi’s DOE assignments included the Office of Environmental Management and the Office of Nuclear Energy, and their predecessor organizations.
Jim holds a Master’s in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Massachusetts (Lowell).

L&A Awards Three Scholarships at WM 2013 Symposium

Longenecker & Associates, Inc. awarded scholarships to Leslie Kerby, Chad Durrant, and Kevin Kronvall on February 26, 2013 at the Waste Management 2013 Symposium in Phoenix, AZ. [read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]
Leslie Kerby is pursuing a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Idaho. Leslie specializes in the crossover between nuclear engineering and nuclear physics and is currently working on a computational model for high energy nuclear spallation reactions.
Chad Durrant is a nuclear engineering Ph.D. student at Penn State University. He is a nuclear forensics graduate fellow whose research interest included radiochemical separation, nuclear waste and environmental radioactive waste processing.
Kevin Kronvall is a senior in chemical engineering at University of Washington, and will be graduating in June 2013. He is an undergraduate researcher for the university’s Interfacial and Colloidal Group.
