Dr. Laurie Judd Joins L&A, Inc.

Before joining L&A, Dr. Judd served as Vice President, Government Programs – NuVision Engineering (formerly AEA Technology), Manager, Aerospace & Defense Technologies – UKAEA/AEA Technology, Culham. Dr. Judd has extensive experience in both international technology transfer and collaboration between Government Agencies, and commercialization and implementation of innovative, ‘first-of-a-kind’ technologies.

Martin Schneider Joins L&A, Inc.

Previously, Mr. Schneider was Chief Executive Officer for ExchangeMonitor Publications & Forums, a media and business intelligence firm focused on the environmental cleanup and nuclear security sectors. For the past decade, Mr. Schneider has been the chairman and organizer of ExchangeMonitor’s highly regarded suite of specialized conferences including the Weapons Complex Monitor Decisionmakers’ Forum in Amelia Island, Fla., the RadWaste Summit in Summerlin, Nev., and the Nuclear Deterrence Summit in Washington, D.C. In addition, Mr. Schneider has led ExchangeMonitor’s growth in information, analysis and business intelligence, managing publication of the Weapons Complex Monitor, the RadWaste Monitor, the Nuclear Security & Deterrence Monitor and the Weapons Complex Morning Briefing. Prior to becoming CEO in 2011, Mr. Schneider served in a variety of positions for ExchangeMonitor including Editor in Chief, Editorial Director and Editor of Weapons Complex Monitor.

L&A Awards Scholarships at WM 2015 Symposium

Longenecker & Associates, Inc. awarded four scholarships to Athena Gallardo, Heather Savoy, Jose Marcial, and Remy Devoe on March 17, 2015 at the Waste Management 2014 Symposium in Phoenix, AZ.[read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]

Athena Gallardo is a second year student in the Radiochemistry PhD program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She previously received a BS and an MS in Health Physics from UNLV. She is currently investigating the migration of americium and other nuclides from weapons grade plutonium hot particles in soil cores.

Heather Savoy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Computational Mechanics, and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. She is now working on her PhD at UC Berkeley in the area of groundwater modeling with an emphasis in stochastic inverse methods.

José Marcial is a second-year graduate student in Materials Science and Engineering at Washington State University, Pullman. He conducts research in understanding the compositional dependence of glass corrosion when it is related to the crystallization of aluminosilicate phases. In the future, he hopes he can apply his skills to benefit the community of scientists who seek to remediate legacy nuclear waste.

Remy Devoe is a graduate student at the University of Tennessee pursuing a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering. His recent work is in dry cask modeling using integrated database and analysis code systems. These include criticality and thermal models of dry cask storage containers in support of the Used Fuel Systems Group at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Dr. Ronald D. Streit Joins L&A, Inc.

Longenecker & Associates, Inc. announced today that Dr. Ronald Streit has joined L&A as a Senior Associate effective January 14, 2015.[read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]

Prior to joining L&A, Dr. Streit was an Executive with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, serving as Associate Program Director for Nuclear Weapons Engineering. In this position, Dr. Streit was the lead for development of additive manufacturing focused on applications to nuclear weapon components and ancillary equipment with the goal to improve functionality, reduce cost and/or reduce manufacturing facility footprint. He was also the LLNL Program Lead for developing and institutionalizing processes and procedures for Nuclear Enterprise Assurance (NEA) at LLNL focusing on supply chain risk management and weapon trust assurance.

From 2011-1014, Dr. Streit also served as the LLNL member of the NA-10 Science Council, focused on future stockpile planning scenarios and the development of the Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan. For accomplishments made in these two areas, Dr. Streit received commendations from the Chairman of the Nuclear Weapons Council, Frank Kendall (Under Secretary of Defense); and NNSA Deputy Administrator, Dr. Don Cook.

In past assignments at LLNL, Dr. Streit worked in the area of Stockpile Evaluation and Management, and also served as Separator Systems Project and Engineering Manager for the AVLIS project.

Jay Rhoderick Joins L&A, Inc.

Mr. Rhoderick has over 36 years of federal government experience, including with the Army Corps of Engineers, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and almost 25 years in DOE’s Office of Environmental Management, with his last position as Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tank Waste and Nuclear Materials.
