Martin Schneider
President

Martin Schneider is a recognized leader with more than 20 years of experience in the defense nuclear, national security and energy sectors. Before being named President in 2022, Martin led strategy and business development for Longenecker & Associates through a period of significant corporate growth that saw L&A emerge as one of the leading small businesses in the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration enterprise. Martin also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Roy G. Post Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on awarding scholarships for students pursuing careers in the radioactive waste management, environmental remediation or nuclear energy industries.

John Longenecker
Chief Executive Officer

John R. Longenecker, the Chief Executive Officer of Longenecker & Associates, Inc. (L&A), has more than 35 years’ experience in energy and national defense in the areas of mission assurance, project delivery, and independent assessment in various programs including nuclear weapons and non-proliferation, environmental remediation, nuclear reactor development and operations, uranium enrichment, waste management, and advanced technology development and deployment. Unique strengths and experience include improving operational effectiveness via implementing performance assurance programs tailored to each mission and strengthening ISMS and safety culture in project organizations.

Christine Gelles
Chief Operating Officer

Christine Gelles has nearly 25 years experience in the US Department of Energy. Her core skills include: strategic program planning, policy development and problem solving, project planning, management, budget formulation, execution and review; program management and assessment; comprehensive understanding of environmental laws, regulations and policies, as well as federal budgetary and accounting policy; and extensive knowledge and understanding of the Department of Energy’s waste management and nuclear materials management programs.

James Veres
Chief Financial Officer

James Veres has more than 30 years of Federal contracting experience in leading corporate operations and supporting government clients and currently leads Longenecker & Associates accounting, human resources, and contracts administration activities.

R. Keller Staley
Executive Vice President

Keller has over 30 years of experience managing complex, multi-million dollar technical, planning, analysis and management support contracts for a wide range of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) offices including: the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), the Office of Fossil Energy (FE), the Office of Environmental Management (EM); the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE), the Office of Science, the Climate Change Technology Program (CCTP); the Office of River Protection (ORP), the NNSA Office of Materials Management and Minimization (NA-23), the NNSA Office of Acquisition and Project Management NA APM; the NNSA Office of Secure Transportation (OST); the Office of the Under Secretary of Energy; the Savannah River Office (SR) and the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).

Brian J. Bielecki

Brian Bielecki is a highly experienced leader of engineering, quality and regulatory programs and operations, with demonstrated success developing high performing organizations to deliver multi-site programs and projects, conduct complex applied research, apply and assess comprehensive regulatory programs, provide life-cycle management of nuclear facilities, and execute 24/7 operations for nuclear energy, national security, defense, and environment missions.

Craig Ferguson, PMP, CHP
Senior VP
Operations

Craig Ferguson is a proven, outcome-oriented leader and executive with over 30 years of broad operations, project management, safety and risk management experience in highly regulated environments including Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories and weapons facilities, fuel cycle facilities, and the US Navy nuclear propulsion program.  Expertise in project management and oversight, implementing operational readiness, enterprise risk management, ES&H programs, financial and strategic planning, performance management and governance, investigation and root cause analysis, team building and personnel development.  Craig has held key management and operations prime contract positions at four DOE facilities and labs. Credentials include Project Manager Professional, Certified Health Physicist, and MS in Safety Sciences. 

As Senior VP for Operations, Craig is responsible for successful execution of L&A contracts in eastern U.S. including  such areas as Oak Ridge, Savannah River, DOE HQ, DOE national labs and supporting other L&A contracts across the DOE/NNSA complex.

Laurie Judd, Ph.D.

Laurie Judd is an Internationally experienced, industry-recognized Senior Executive with more than 25 years proven record in: management and technical consulting for government; international technology transfer and collaboration between Government Agencies; sales management, business development and program management in technical services and products to both Federal Government and their contractors; “making market” through advanced positioning of technical concepts and solutions; congressional liaison/government affairs; and the commercialization and implementation of innovative, ‘first-of-a-kind’ technologies.

Michael Briggs has more than 30 years’ successful experience in the fields of Operations, Health, Safety and Radiation Protection Leadership and support with recognized strengths in Training, Safety Culture and Cultural Change developing training programs, facilitating improvement processes, and problem-solving at Union and Managerial levels.

Kathryn Roberts
Vice President
Regulatory Assurance

Katie Roberts is a recognized regulatory and public outreach expert with more than 20 years of environmental leadership, innovative management, compliance and technical expertise related to regulatory matters (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA) as well as management and regulation of contaminated soil, surface/groundwater and facilities.  In addition to serving as a cabinet-appointed regulatory division director managing an approximately 200 employee organization, her experience includes 17 years managing, coordinating and communicating between State and Federal agencies (e.g., EPA, DOE), Congressional delegation, State legislators, Indian Pueblos, local municipal governments and a wide range of other stakeholders, including activist groups and non-profit organizations. 

Frank Tarantello, Jr.

Project Delivery

Frank Tarantello, L&A Vice President for Project Delivery, is based out of L&A’s Los Alamos business office.  He has over 30 years of direct experience in Project Management, Performance Assurance, Waste Programs, Programmatic Improvement, Facilities Management, Operations Oversight, Engineering Support, and Proposal Management.  Having worked at more than a dozen DOE, NNSA, commercial, and Canadian projects in the nuclear field, he has developed a full understanding of applicable DOE Orders, Directives, and Standards, as well as the importance of safety and the work control process. During Frank’s career, he obtained positions of increasing responsibility including managing projects/programs involving: nuclear decommissioning; site characterization; category 2 nuclear facility management; alternatives analysis; radiological and hazardous waste management; engineering management; operations/facilities management; radioactive waste characterization, packaging, and transportation; alternatives analysis; USQDs; condition reporting, tracking, and closure; and application of NQA-1 criteria. Frank has an MS in Engineering/Production Management and a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  Other relevant credentials include a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute; and the successful attainment of a Board Qualified Category 2 Nuclear Facility Manager position.

Mike Nartker
Director of Communications

Michael Nartker, Director of Communications for Longenecker and Associates, has more than 20 years’ experience in the nuclear energy and security areas, specializing in the U.S. Department of Energy’s cleanup program and nuclear energy issues. He is a proven leader in developing national-level communications and government relations programs with significant expertise in designing and implementing strategies to overcome significant communications and stakeholder challenges. His core skills include media and stakeholder relations; Congressional affairs and government relations; crisis communications; speechwriting and executive communications; and corporate communications.
